Frequently asked
How much does CoolSculpting cost?
Single area: $750–$1,500. Most patients need 2 cycles per area for adequate result. Multi-area treatments (abdomen + flanks) typically run $3,000–$6,000 total. Provider tier affects price significantly.
Does CoolSculpting really work?
Yes, with realistic expectations. Each cycle reduces the treated fat layer by 20–25%. Best for stubborn pockets in lean-to-average patients, not for general weight loss. Most patients see meaningful results after 1–2 sessions.
What is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH)?
PAH is fat GROWING in the treated area, typically 2–9 months post-treatment. It's permanent and requires liposuction to fix. A 2023 study estimated incidence at 1 in 138 — much higher than the manufacturer's original 1-in-4,000 figure. Risk is higher in men.
Is CoolSculpting safe?
Generally safe with rare serious side effects. Most adverse effects are temporary numbness, redness, and bruising. PAH is the major concern — small but well-documented. Choose a provider familiar with PAH and willing to discuss it openly.
CoolSculpting vs. liposuction — which is right for me?
Liposuction is faster and more dramatic but surgical. CoolSculpting is non-invasive but requires multiple sessions and gives subtler results. For larger volume reduction or specific contouring, surgery wins. For stubborn small pockets in patients who can't or won't have surgery, CoolSculpting fits.
